Experience

 

Overview

Maxine has taught at many levels in the education system, including University undergraduate student teachers, and in postgraduate courses for teachers in special education roles.

Schools

Maxine took up her first professional teaching role in 1974.

Since then she has worked as a teacher in 8 schools, including time as Head of Special Education at two secondary schools. This involved managing a staff of teacher aides, training volunteers and younger teachers, and developing programs for dozens of youngsters with a range of learning challenges.

Private practise

She ran a successful private tutoring school for several years, in which she helped dozens of students to realise their potential and overcome learning hurdles. They ranged from Early Childhood to adults who had been let down by their schooling. She continues to accept referrals from teachers and parents.

 

One of the hallmarks of Maxine’s career has been keeping up to date, and actively utilising innovative approaches to education. She draws on proven best practice programs. Maxine pioneered the early use of computers as a teaching tool. She keeps up to date with research, and continues to use the latest ijn best practise.
